Embarquez donc avec nous sans plus attendre pour l’écosystème utopique des AUJIK où technologie bio-mécanique et mystique pastorale font bon ménage au son des beats sur coussin d’air, des synthés vintage et autres drones hypnagogiques.

On ne reviendra pas ici sur l’injustice médiatique dont fait l’objet depuis 10 ans l’ex Boards Of Canada inexplicablement passé entre les gouttes du succès, ou sur la genèse de cette bande originale indissociable de celle du moyen-métrage d’animation du même nom signé par le Suédois Stefan Larsson, tout cela ayant fait l’objet d’un véritable feuilleton dans nos pages cet été. Place donc à l’album en lui-même, particulièrement attendu par les fervents admirateurs que nous sommes, et qui brille d’emblée par sa capacité à évoquer ses propres images mentales tout en donnant envie de découvrir celles qui l’ont inspiré.

Ainsi les voix en japonais des personnages au second plan du très ambient et contemplatif Eternity In Our Lips And Eyes, puis de l’interlude I Have No Mouth renouant avec ces nappes "gondolées" qui caractérisent l’univers hautement onirique du musicien, font-elle en ouverture l’effet de véritables field recordings, guides cotonneux pour nos oreilles redevenues vierges au moment d’aborder avec autant d’appréhension que de fascination ce territoire à la fois étrange et familier. Néanmoins, l’intrication des pistes rend l’immersion immédiate et bien qu’aucun beat à proprement parler ne résonne jusqu’à l’impressionnant Zeroth Law, la mélancolie cristalline d’Indrid Cold et ses exhalaisons de géant endormi en font le plus confortable des cocons utérins où se lover entre deux saisons.

Zeroth Law, parlons-en d’ailleurs puisqu’il réussit l’exploit de transcender la signature de Christ. avec ses beats pneumatiques investis d’une souplesse presque jazz et ses envolées analogiques aux distorsions ensorcelantes. Il en sera de même en fin de parcours avec les syncopations du parfait Kardashev Type One et ses rêveries rétro-futuristes à mi-chemin des troncs moussus grouillants de vie et des cieux étoilés :

We will not come back here on the media injustice that the former Boards Of Canada has been through for more than ten years now, inexplicably playing hide-and-seek with success, and neither on the genesis of this soundtrack tightly linked to the animated movie of the same name directed by Swedish filmaker Stefan Larsson, all of which have been well documented in our pages during this past summer.
